Located in Central Eastern France, Burgundy is an open invitation to discovery, taste and sharing. With beautiful scenery, UNESCO World Heritage sites, exceptional food and the oldest wine trail in France it is one of Francois’ favourite regions to explore.
Whilst it is known throughout the world for its famous vineyards, Francois wants to show you that the Burgundy region has much more than just wine to offer.
Your 7-Day Burgundy Tour
If you are wanting to visit a beautiful region with stunning countryside landscapes dotted with tiny villages, some of them "Plus Beaux Villages de France", in a place that is away from the crowds and authentic, this 7-day all-inclusive food & wine tour of Burgundy is for you.
Your Gourmet Adventure – Food & Wine Tour
Burgundy is a major centre for wine and gastronomy, and we guarantee it will stimulate your senses as we spend 7 days experiencing the best food and wine the region has to offer, including:
A visit to the Halles de Dijon (covered market), built in 1868 by the Eiffel Company, where we’ll enjoy a very special wine tasting.
Discover Dijon mustard at the Fallot mustard producer, the last company still making mustard in the traditional way!
Savour the Pain d’épices de Dijon, known as ginger and honey bread, with a visit to Mulot & Petitjean, a traditional family business with an ancestral expertise dating back to 1796.
Enjoy cheese! What visit to France would be complete without cheese? We’ll taste Époisses, made from lactic curd with a washed rind, and introduce you to Olivier, one of the country’s best producers. We’ll also taste l’Abbaye de Citeaux, a cheese made by monks.
We’ll introduce you to local produce such as Charolais beef and Bresse chicken.
You’ll visit restaurants off the beaten path, offering the classic “menus bourguignons.” One of our stops will be Martial’s restaurant, where he has taken the art of bistro cuisine to the next level. An example from the three-course lunch menu: “An island of whipped cream floating proudly atop a Maranges white asparagus velouté, with bacon crispies; excellent shredded suckling pig in a fig leaf jus, with mashed potatoes.”
Drink the very best organic wines from the region!
Visit the legendary Bruno’s Wine Bar, offering outstanding cheese and charcuterie platters featuring Saint-Marcellin from La Mère Richard, Boudin Noir from Christian Parra, Emilia or Angelachu tuna belly, and Rosette made from the owner’s pigs!
Visit Le Bistrot Lucien in Gevrey-Chambertin.
Michelin-star chef and your host, François, will also cook every dinner for you, incorporating local recipes and seasonal produce picked up daily from local markets and producers.
YOUR BACKROAD ADVENTURE - Sightseeing & Exploring
We will follow the route of the Grands Crus de Bourgogne, the “Champs-Elysées” of Burgundy.
Next, we’ll take you on a journey through the Côte de Nuits, which stretches from the south of Dijon to the prestigious hillsides. Here, you’ll find villages bearing the names of the world’s greatest red wines: Chambertin, Clos de Vougeot, Romanée-Conti, and many more.
The Côte de Beaune lies to the south of the Côte de Nuits. This region is blessed with the Chardonnay grape, producing the world’s finest dry white wines. We can’t wait for you to experience this very special place.
Burgundy is also rich in history and heritage. Cities like Dijon, the capital of the ancient Duchy of Burgundy, and Beaune, are incredibly well-preserved and well worth a visit. In Beaune, we’ll make sure you don’t miss the Hospices, an iconic example of 15th-century Flamboyant Gothic architecture. You’ll also have some time to stroll through the old medieval town.
If time permits and you're interested, we’ll also visit the Abbey Church of Cluny to explore the religious heritage of Burgundy. Cluny Abbey was founded in 910 by Guillaume d'Aquitaine, and construction was completed in the mid-12th century. For five centuries, until Saint Peter's in Rome was built, the Abbey Church of Cluny was the largest religious building in Europe (177 meters long), and many Popes have come from there.
And of course, there will be time for some shopping. Why not bring home an authentic Dijon mustard or a bottle of Crème de Cassis liqueur to make the famous French kir and share a taste of Burgundy with your friends?
